Denyse O’Leary has posted a critical review of Christoph Cardinal Schoenborn’s book, Chance or Purpose? Creation, Evolution, and a Rational Faith.
O’Leary is supportive of Cardinal Schoenborn’s defense of the truth of God’s role as Creator in the face of the assertion that life on earth is nothing more than a random natural phenomenon, reminding readers of the Cardinal’s 2006 statement in the New York Times:
Any system of thought that denies or seeks to explain away the overwhelming evidence for design in biology is ideology, not science.
But she ultimately finds his book “conflicted”, mainly because of his apparent caution in disputing evolution and hesitancy towards intelligent design.
